Traffic Data Analysis on Sathorn Road with Synchro Optimization and Traffic Simulation

Kijawattanee Udomsilp; Teeratat Arayakarnkul; Sorawee Watarakitpaisarn; Patrachart Komolkiti; Jittichai Rudjanakanoknad; Chaodit Aswakul

Engineering Journal, 21(6), 57–67

Research focus

Field data from Bangkok’s Sathorn Road were used to model signal timing and reversible-lane operations in Synchro. The study compared proposed timings with observed police-operated signals to assess travel-time changes.

Development of Trade Facilitation Indices to Compare International Ports in Thailand

Jittichai Rudjanakanoknad; Wiracha Suksirivoraboot; Sumalee Sukdanont

Journal of the Eastern Asia Society for Transportation Studies, 10, 66–80

Research focus

An analytic hierarchy process uses freight-forwarder surveys to compare seven Thai international ports. The indices cover infrastructure, port management, customs procedures and consistency of customs enforcement.

Capacity Change Mechanism of a Diverge Bottleneck

Jittichai Rudjanakanoknad

Transportation Research Record, 2278(1), 21–30

Research focus

Video observations on a Bangkok expressway identify three traffic states near an off-ramp queue. Changes in exit flow and lane changing explain shifts in bottleneck capacity and suggest traffic-responsive ramp control.
