Optimizing Budget Allocation for Low-Volume Roads Through the AHP-TOPSIS Approach

Pawarotorn Chaipetch; Chisanu Amprayn; Warisara Lertpaitoonpan

Suranaree Journal of Science and Technology, 33(4), 010450 (1–15)

Research focus

Evaluates an AHP–TOPSIS framework for rural-road maintenance prioritization using 724 one-kilometer road sections across eight regional bureaus in Thailand. Compared with conventional allocation under the same budget, the study reports 7.4% greater maintenance coverage and lower regional variation in post-maintenance roughness.

YOLO26-RD: An End-to-End Road Damage Detection Network With Learnable Contrast Enhancement and Edge-Guided Downsampling

Sompote Youwai; Pawarotorn Chaipetch; Hathairat Samaikul; Theerayut Yonseng

arXiv:2608.15713v2 · Preprint · Revised 18 August 2026

Research focus

A pavement-distress detector informed by an audit of road-survey imagery. LearnableContrast adjusts local contrast, while EdgeSPD uses edge information during downsampling. The study compares five model scales with matched baselines; its findings are reported in an arXiv preprint.

A Multi-Criteria Decision Support System for Prioritizing Road Maintenance: Integrating AHP and TOPSIS with a Focus on Low-Volume Roads

Pawarotorn Chaipetch; Chisanu Amprayn; Paijit Pawan; Vatanavongs Ratanavaraha

IOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science, 1450(1), 012004

Research focus

Combines AHP factor weighting with TOPSIS ranking to prioritize road maintenance. Economic, engineering, environmental and social criteria help account for low-volume roads that traffic and roughness measures alone may overlook. The study evaluates the decision-support approach on a Thai rural-road network.

Precision Road Infrastructure Management: Monocular Vision-Based 3D Damage Detection and Assessment

Sompote Youwai; Achitaphon Chaiyaphat; Pawarotorn Chaipetch

The 3rd International Conference on Advance Civil Engineering and Smart Structure · Author-uploaded conference manuscript, November 2024

Research focus

Combines YOLO9tr damage detection with calibrated monocular depth estimation to assess pavement damage using a vehicle-mounted camera. The conference manuscript investigates both damage classification and dimensional measurement, extending the detector toward road-maintenance assessment.

YOLO9tr: a lightweight model for pavement damage detection utilizing a generalized efficient layer aggregation network and attention mechanism

Sompote Youwai; Achitaphon Chaiyaphat; Pawarotorn Chaipetch

Journal of Real-Time Image Processing, 21, Article 163

Research focus

A lightweight pavement-damage detector based on YOLOv9 with partial attention. The study evaluates accuracy and inference speed using road images from multiple countries and an expanded set of damage classes. The journal article and its earlier arXiv version are grouped as one work.

Analytical of Multi-Criteria Approach for Identifying the Weight and Factor of Rural Road Maintenance Prioritization

Pawarotorn Chaipetch; Chisanu Amprayn; Paijit Pawan; Vatanavongs Ratanavaraha

International Journal of GEOMATE, 22(91), 70–79

Research focus

Uses the Analytic Hierarchy Process to weight economic, engineering and social factors for rural-road maintenance. It relates priorities to the Department of Rural Roads’ strategic objectives, including network connectivity and the needs of low-traffic routes.

Assessing the Potential and Strength of Local Administrative Organization in Local Roadway Field

Akhom Tantiphongapha; Nitikon Khlaichom; Thawisak Panchan; Krit Malueangnon; Yanaphon Saengsan; Annanop Phuengchuea; Phimphawan Wisetsi; Ratthanan Ianleng; Pawarotorn Chaipetch; Wirachai Wongwiranimit

Journal of Transportation and Logistics (TRANSLOG), Vol. 2020, Issue 1, Article 7, 122–143

Research focus

Assesses local-road management capacity across 442 local administrative organisations in Thailand. It examines road registration, condition and safety assessment, knowledge use, and maintenance equipment, identifying differences in capacity across types of local authority.
